Styled by Setitra’s Blog Favorite Beauty Picks September 2022
What a wonderful month! This September, Styled by Setitra Blog, was able to discover some affordable high-end beauty products! Last week, I found out that Sephora in JcPenny’s was closing, the shelves were practically empty when I got there. Luckily, I was able to snag some goodies from what was left for 50% off before the final closing day. What a deal! I’m so glad I got there in time to find some foundation, concealer, new lipstick, and an eyebrow pen. Read below for my September beauty picks!

Here’s What I Got From Sephora’s Closing Sale:
Smashbox Studio Skin Full Coverage 24-Hour Foundation
I picked up the shade 4.0 Medium Dark. This shade has a warm peach undertone. Smashbox claims that this foundation is waterproof, sweat-resistant, won‘t look cakey, and won‘t cause breakouts. It provides up to 24 hours of full-coverage wear. For skin types: Normal, Dry, Combination, and Oily. It liquid foundation with a matte finsih.
My Review: This product looks well on me. I have combination skin, and to me it did seem a little cakey and doesn’t blend that well, but also not heavy. It does give full coverage, and the matte finish looked really well on me. A small amount goes a long way because it is a little thick. I did not have any breakouts, but remember this is my own opinion on how the product worked for me. I found that using a wet makeup sponge worked great for blending this foundation out.

Overall, I did like how my makeup looked, my skin looked flawless. I’m not a fan of the orangey tone, and to my surprise, I really enjoyed the matte finish. I do not think this is something I would purchase again.
Kat Von D ‘Lock-it Concealer Crème’
I am using the shade D31, which is a warm undertone. I recently tried Kat Von D’s liquid lip creme. There weren’t many products left for this brand, but there were a few concealers left, and since I love lipstick so much, I was excited to try another product from Kat Von D.
My Review: I love this concealer. It is thick and creamy, it’s got a slightly dewy finish. The coverage is amazing, I only had to use a small amount of this. I enjoy using this to cover up any dark spots, this lasted me most of the day and didn’t need many touch-ups throughout the day. I also used e.l.f.’s Stay All Night Micro-Fine Setting Mist and for me, the two worked really well together. It also claims to be great for tattoo coverage, I like to see how it works for covering my tattoo and scar. I will get back with an update and let you guys know.
Smashbox Always On Cream to Matte Lipstick
This color is so beautiful! When I first got this, I thought this would be a red color, but after trying it on it is like a red-orangy color. When I looked online it says “True Coral.” So I was a bit nervous that this may not match well with my skin tone, however, it looks absolutely stunning! The color is vibrant and it feels smooth and creamy upon application, drying to a perfect, true matte.

My Review: I’m usually on the fence with matte lipsticks because they normally tend to crack, peel and dry my lips. This formula did not do that! This lipstick did last me through my entire day, I probably had to re-apply maybe about 2-3x and that was because of lunch. I recommend doing a lip scrub before applying this lip formula, I find that works so well for a sexy smooth matte finish. Seriously obsessed, and I highly recommend it.
Anastasia Beverly Hills – Brow Pen
Superfine Micro-Stroking Detail Brow Pen in Dark Brown. This brow pen is claimed to be a waterproof, superfine-tipped pen ideal for creating realistic hair strokes that will give you your most natural-looking brows yet.
My Review: I must admit, I was a bit hesitant about how this product would turn out. I was worried that this product might make my brows look like they obviously have makeup on them. BUT, let me just this brow pen is amazing! My brow’s turned out really cute. I was able to create realistic hair strokes, and I used a spoolie smooth/blend it out. I would definitely purchase this eyebrow pen again.

Overall, I think my makeup look turned out pretty for a stroll in town and getting some quick errands done. The lipstick, brow pen, and concealer were my favorites. That is all for my September beauty picks, I hope you all enjoyed this week’s post. Which one are you most interested in trying out? Let me know in the comments!
